Setup lab · PCIe M.2 HAT+

Set up NVMe boot on Raspberry Pi 5

Detect the SSD, switch on PCIe Gen 3, measure the speed, copy your system over and boot from NVMe — the same commands you’ll type on the real thing.

Simulated setup
  • Raspberry Pi 5
  • iUniker PCIe M.2 HAT+
  • 512 GB NVMe SSD
  • Raspberry Pi OS on microSD

  1. Update Raspberry Pi OS

Start with current software: newer kernels and firmware improve PCIe and NVMe support. You’re connected to the Pi over SSH, and the SSD is already fitted on the HAT.

    • sudo apt update
    • sudo apt full-upgrade -y
  2. Check the bootloader

  3. Find the SSD

  4. Turn on PCIe Gen 3 (optional)

  5. Check the PCIe link

  6. Measure the speed

  7. Copy your system to the SSD

  8. Boot from NVMe first

  9. Restart and check
